The Fit+Strong Program

The fun and lively Fit + Strong for Seniors Program is a complete body conditioning program for seniors that helps to build muscular strength , enhance posture and develop core strength.

The TaiChi Program

The comprehensive TaiChi program focuses on helping enhance circulation and create better "Qi" or life force energy flow.  The gentle and soothing movements of Taichi also help bring clarity to the mind, and cultivate harmony of mind+body+spirit.  

TAICHI PROGRAM FOR SENIORS

VIRTUAL TAICHI CLASSES

Virtual Tai Chi classes with Leda are now available for senior living centers nationwide.  The soothing TaiChi classes can be experienced as a shared class with individuals in their own rooms, or together with other residents on a large screen in a community /fitness room.


SEATED TAICHI

Seated TaiChi is a very popular and safe method for seniors to gain the benefits of TaiChi.  The exercises in the program allow seniors to remain seated, while learning and practicing the exercises.  The main focus of this program will be to :

  • Enhance Cognitive Function
  • Enhance Circulation
  • Enhance Mind body Coordination
  • Enhance lung capacity
  • Improve Mood
  • Improve Blood Pressure


TAICHI FOR BALANCE

This program is best suited for those who either have gone through the seated TaiChi program with Leda, or for those who are more confident doing standing exercises.
The program will alternative between seated and standing postures, and the main focus of this program will be to:

  • Improve Balance
  • Improve Mind Body Coordination
  • Improve Cognitive Function
  •  Enhance joint mobility 
  • Enhance Circulation

GAIN STEADINESS AND BALANCE 

Many health experts praise the benefits of tai chi for seniors who have lost mobility and steadiness with age. This ancient Chinese mind-body exercise focuses on slow gentle movements with little impact on the joints and bones. 


BETTER POSTURE AND COGNITIVE FUNCTION 

Research suggests the sturdy posturing, meditation, and breathing techniques of tai chi improve a variety of senior health concerns, including hand-eye coordination, balance, knee and back pain, joint flexibility, and improving cognitive function.

Furthermore, tai chi exercises for seniors have been shown to boost quality of life for patients with cancer and Parkinson’s disease.

Fit+ Strong Program for Seniors

VIRTUAL BODY CONDITIONING CLASSES

The virtual Fit+Strong Program is now available for senior living centers nationwide.  This fun and lively class can be enjoyed by residents individually in their rooms on their personal computers or together with friends in a community room.

Gain Muscular Strength

Muscular strength and muscle mass preserve bone density, independence and vitality with age.  The exercises in the Fit + Strong program help condition the body to combat weakness and frailty and their debilitating consequences. 

Improve Flexibility

The movements and exercises in the Fit + Strong program are designed to increase flexibility and range of motion.  Flexibility of the muscles and fluid joints helps prevent injury and reduces muscle soreness and stiffness

Develop a Strong Core

Because core muscles provide the foundation for all movement, strength in this area encourages better posture and balance and reduces widespread muscle pain.  The Fit + Strong program places a special emphasis on strengthening the core to help seniors feel strong and healthy!

REIKI PROGRAM FOR SENIORS (in person only)

REIKI FOR SENIORS


EASE PAIN, REJUVENATE ENERGY AND BOOST MENTAL ALERTNESS

Seniors respond to Reiki because of the way it relieves pain from tight muscles, increases range of motion in arthritic or stiff joints, and even improves coordination to reduce the risk for falls and fall-related injuries. Reiki can speed healing from injuries and surgery, ease breathing, boost 

vitality, and rejuvenate energy and mental alertness. 

Patients with dementia often benefit from Reiki when more traditional approaches cannot reach them. Reiki reduces stress, anxiety, and depression responses - three conditions that affect many seniors especially those with dementia. 


REIKI BRINGS PEACE AND CALM 

Reiki helps to bring peace and calm to an advanced senior’s or elder’s world, sometimes filled with pain, disability, foggy memory, never-ending doctor appointments, and other problems that make even the smallest activity of daily living seem like a monumental challenge. 


THE HEALING POWER OF TOUCH 

The healing power of touch brings the warmth of Reiki energy into stiff shoulders or sore feet, even for seniors who are normally sensitive to touch. Depending on the individual’s mindset and physical condition, seniors may benefit from short Reiki sessions at first then move into full 60- minute sessions as their body learns how to open itself and accept treatment. 

PRIVATE TRAINING + workshops

Virtual Private Sessions

One on one private virtual sessions can be very helpful to seniors.  Seniors who have access to computers at home can enjoy exercising in the comfort of their own homes with the unneeded stress of getting themselves to a studio for a lesson. With a private session, Leda will be able to design a unique program catered to the specific needs of the individual.

Workshops


Leda is available to customize a workshop to suit the needs of your group. She regularly teaches workshops at hospitals, libraries, assisted living/retirement centers.
